6大設計趨勢塑造全新城市生活

最新一項數據顯示，全球百分之70的人在2050年時會居住在都市區域。而未來城市可能與我們現今居住的城市樣貌大相逕庭。本文將探討六項在未來都市生活中即將改變的趨勢。

THE SHARING ECONOMY WILL APPLY TO HOUSING, TOO
“As has been well documented, younger generations have for both economic and social reasons become accustomed to a) sharing cars, apartments when they travel,” says Vishaan Chakrabarti, a partner at SHoP Architects and a professor at Columbia University. “As a consequence, we will likely soon see the legalization of new forms of cooperative housing in which an individual may rent or own a private bedroom and bath as part of a larger complex with communal kitchens, workspaces, and recreational facilities.”

Living in smaller homes will mean seeking out new spaces to socialize and eat. However, David Rockwell, a New York-based architect notes “there’s probably a future in ‘home’ restaurants,” where people can create their own temporary dining event.

She points to a new hospital storefront in New Jersey designed in the style of Apple’s Genius Bar, as well as the proliferation of walk-in health clinics. And designing for health isn’t just a hospital issue anymore, it’s universal.

趨勢五：對醫療健康的重視性提升

CHANGE IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION
ASCE president Robert Stevens believes “New technology can be things as simple as smart parking systems that tell you where to find open parking spaces, c) synchronizing traffic lights and reuse of water.“

Bike rental and vehicle sharing schemes help to minimize the number of parked and idle vehicles. Uber connects drivers and passengers more effectively. Apps like Waze improve traffic flow.

趨勢六：基礎設施和交通的改變
ASCE的總裁相信「新科技可以是些簡單的事情，如智慧型停車系統，告訴你哪裏可以找到空位；同步化交通號誌及重複使用水資源。」

1)    double as 兼飾兩角

The head of secretary doubles as the HR. 秘書長同時身兼人資。

2)    chances are 某事可能發生

chances are (that)相當於It’s likely that…，表示可能發生的事，that可省略。The chances are (that) they will visit you when they arrive in London next month.   他們極有可能下個月到倫敦時會去拜訪你。

3)    place the/an order 下訂單

商業英文中常用到下訂單的下，可以用place。後面介係詞接for時，表示欲下訂的物品，而接with，表示賣方
I’d like to place an order for some melons with the Farmers’ Association in Tainan.   我想和台南的農會下瓜果類的訂單。
